“Snog, marry, avoid: Chris Martin, Liam Hemsworth, and… Justin Bieber?”
In an interview that has made the press tour for her (Golden Globe award-nominated) performance in the soon-to-be-released film Joy sound a lot like the chatter under a doona at a 12 year old’s sleepover party, Jennifer Lawrence indulged us in a few insights from her love life.
Specifically: J-Law is confirming and denying (and staying annoyingly silent on) names.
The 25-year-old actress appeared on US cable television talkshow Watch What Happens Live on Monday, and, boy, does she know how to generate headlines with a name drop or three.
First cab off the rank was Lawrence’s Hunger Games co-star, Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.
Lawrence responded to rumours she and Hemsworth, 25, had been spotted kissing at New York’s Waverly Inn last month.
“Liam and I grew up together,” Lawrence said, before confirming that the couple had kissed off-screen.
“Liam’s real hot. What would you have done?… Yeah, I have.”
However, the actress – crucially – remained silent on whether the recent Waverly Inn sighting was legitimate or if the kiss happened years ago (the pair started filming the Hunger Games franchise in 2011), so maybe don’t order your “Lawsworth 4 Lyf” T-shirt just yet.
The next name for Lawrence to deal with on this press tour-turned-Bachelorette-episode was one Justin Bieber.
Bieber, 21, has spoken of his affection for Lawrence in the past. Last month, during a game of “To bae or not to bae” (English translation: to be in a relationship with or to not be in a relationship with) the singer told British radio station Capital FM, he would definitely “bae” Lawrence.
Oh yeah, [she’s] bae for sure,” Bieber said.
“100 percent. She’s so sexy. She’s unbelievable. She’s so cute.”
Unfortunately for Bieber, Lawrence told Watch What Happens Live she did not feel the same way, giving him a “hard no… but thanks”.
At least she said thank you?
Alas, the relationship that everyone wanted to know about — Lawrence’s former romance with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin — is still unconfirmed.
Lawrence, who reportedly dated Martin on and off for about a year before the pair ended things in August, refused to confirm their romance, despite show host Andy Cohen’s attempts.
“You and Chris Martin never really confirmed whether you were together or not,” Cohen said.
“We never did,” Lawrence replied.
“Were you?” Cohen asked.
Lawrence quickly shut the conversation down with an, “Oh, come on!”
In sum: Lawrence has snogged Hemsworth, would avoid Bieber and is staying tight-lipped on the nature of her relationship with Martin.
Now, let’s all go to sleep before my mum gets us in trouble for being awake past midnight.
