WEATHER conditions in the days leading up to Christmas will see more rainfall across the Hunter, while on Christmas Day a shower or two has been forecast.
On Wednesday there is an 80 per cent chance of rainfall in Newcastlewith a maximum temperature of 21 degrees, according toBureau of Meteorology forecasts.
Christmas Eve brings a 40 per cent chance of rainand a maximum temperature of 22.
Christmas Day is set to be partially cloudywith a 50 per cent chance of showers in the morning and afternoon. The temperature is forecast to beslightly higher at 23 degrees. Easterly winds of 15 to 25 kilometres per hour are expected toturn northeasterly during the morning.
Temperatures are forecast to climb higher on Boxing Day reaching a maximum of 26 degrees. There is a 60 per cent chance of morning showers with the possibility of a thunderstorm.
Temperatures further up the valley are forecast to be as much as six degrees higher than Newcastleon Christmas Day.
